The effects of the CSP on the role of the clergy

As Vicar of a congregation in the CSP, the clergy person has all the rights and responsibilities of a Rector except tenure. He/she presides at Vestry meetings and annual meetings of the congregation (but, in accordance with the Religious Corporations Act of the State of New York, may not vote at these meetings). He/she has the authority of and responsibility for the conduct of worship and the spiritual jurisdiction of the congregation and full use and control of congregation buildings. There is a Letter of Agreement between the Vicar, the Bishop, and the Vestry for all CSP congregations.
