The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine

The Seat of the Bishop of New York

The Cathedral Nave

The Bishop of New York has his seat at the magnificent Gothic and Romanesque Cathedral of St. John the Divine, which was erected in the early part of the 20th century at the highest point in Manhattan.

Built from the beginning as a "House of Prayer for All People" as well as an Episcopal church, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine is currently embarking on a spiritual and artistic renaissance, following a major fire in 2001.

The Cathedral maintains its own web site with schedules of services, tours, events and much more.
