Three Faces of Genius – Puccini’s “Il Trittico”
September 27, 2018 @ 6:30 pm
One event on September 22, 2018 at 6:30pm
On December 14, 1918, New York’s Metropolitan Opera presented the second of two world premieres by the most famous and successful composer of the day – Giacomo Puccini. Il Trittico (The Triptych) was an ambitious evening of three contrasting one-act operas — Il Tabarro (The Cloak); Suor Angelica (Sister Angelica); and Gianni Schicchi, the composer’s only comic opera. While all three operas have since gained in appreciation, staged productions of all three in one evening are rare. Suzanne Martinucci, a regular panelist on the Metropolitan Opera Quiz broadcasts, will look at this uniquely satisfying evening of opera theater as the Met prepares a centennial revival. Tickets: $25. Please call to reserve: (212) 289-0399.
