Urban Beekeeping: Cities are better with Bees
November 1, 2018 @ 6:30 pm
Guillermo Fernandez, Director of The Honeybee Conservancy and an urban beekeeper, will talk about how urban beekeeping has the potential to not only support healthy bee populations, but also support healthy urban communities. Urban beekeeping is popping up globally in iconic places such as Paris’ Jardin du Luxembourg and London’s Buckingham Palace. Since legalizing beekeeping, NYC has led the charge, with beehives pollinating the 700 urban farms and gardens spread across the Big Apple that provide access to healthy produce for local residents. The Honeybee Conservancy is a charity organization that helps the bees while increasing access to sustainable food in underserved communities. Tickets: $20. Please call to reserve: (212) 289-0399.
